Support Our Soldiers was formed in April 2003 by
two mums of serving soldiers, Karen and Agnes with the aim, at that
time, to encourage & provide support for the British Troops
serving in Iraq
Over the years SOS has gone from strength to strength, and in August
2007 we were delighted to be granted official charity status
We have a wonderful team of Area Coordinators on board, all of whom
share our passion and commitment, and are dedicated to supporting
all members of our Armed Forces and their families.
The Area Coordinators, who live all around the UK and some abroad,
raise funds and awareness the money is used to send out care boxes
to the troops in Afghanistan. This small token shows the troops
that the British public care about them, its not about supporting
the war, but support the men and women.
At Christmas in 2008 we sent out 12,000 parcels, for each parcel
sent £1 was donated to BLESMA (The British Limbless Ex-Service
Men's Association). http://www.blesma.org
If you would like to send parcels out to our troops please visit
www.supportoursoldiers.co.uk where you will find details of your
nearest Area Coordinator.
There are however some very important points to note:-
• Parcels MUST be sent to named personnel
• They CANNOT be sent to 'A Soldier' or 'Any Soldier' - Parcels
addressed in this way may be returned to sender
• Although SOS hold the details of Service Personnel these
cannot be given out UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES other than to approved
SOS representatives
• Boxes should NOT contain the following items, aerosols,
alcohol, matches and lighters as they are strictly prohibited.

Message of Support
This list is not definitive – it’s to give you an indication
of suitable items. The key is to things small and light as they
are packed into shoeboxes which are
weight and size restricted.
Travel/individual sizes are ideal rather
than family/bulk packs. Variety is important too – it’s
much nicer to receive a box filled with lots of different items,
rather than one full of say toiletry items. And please remember,
these are morale boosting parcels – the lads and lassies are
being well fed and watered!
Many thanks for showing your support
to the British Troops!
